Lent is upon us …

Shrove Tuesday

Join us as we follow the rich tradition of preparing our homes and our lives for the season of Lent, by sharing in a pancake feast this Tuesday night, February 28, from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the parish hall.

2017 Lenten Meditations

published by Episcopal Relief & Development, these devotional booklets will be offered at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, the Ash Wednesday service, and on Sundays during Lent. You can pick up your copy in the parish hall or at the back of the church.

Thursdays in Lent:  Services & Soup

During the season of Lent on select Thursdays, St. Stephen’s is hosting a Lenten service beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a soup and salad dinner.  Mark your calendar for March 9, March 23, and April 6, and use the sign-up sheets in the parish hall if you are available to bring soup, salad, or bread and if you are planning on attending one or more dinners.  This opportunity is open to everyone and you are invited to bring your friends and neighbors.

 Stations of the Cross

Fr. Brad will be holding “Stations of the Cross” each Sunday during the Lenten season at 8:00 and 10:00 am.  and on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at 6:15 p.m.

A Lenten Opportunity

Bethany United Methodist Church has invited us again to join them for their Forest Community Lenten Services, held every Wednesday at noon beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 1.  It is approximately a half hour service with music, followed by a simple lunch provided by Forest churches taking their turn in leading the service and offering the food.  Donations are accepted (i.e. $ 5) and the total collected is given at the end of Lent to Christian Ministries in Bedford County.  Bethany United Methodist Church is located at 1720 Bethany Church Circle, 24551, which is  a few minutes from “downtown” Forest off of Route 221, behind Virginia Memorial Park.  All are welcome.
