| In the
children's chapel, the children draw cards (with applicable
pictures) for the various
ministries they will exercise (and trading is permitted!):
ushering, arranging flowers, lighting candles, reading, leading
singing, leading the prayers of the people, etc.
The pattern of the Liturgy of the Word
is the same as in the church but at an age-appropriate level and
with facilitation if needed (such as help with reading).
Two lessons are read, with a responsorial psalm, and an
interactive homily is given. Following a response to the
Gospel reading, the children lead in offering prayers for
their needs and the needs of others. Then they process
back to the church at the time of the Peace.
Two children, having drawn their cards,
will be the oblation bearers of bread and wine. Another
child will bring the offering plate from the children's chapel
which usually contains some money but also pictures drawn by the
children as a response to the Gospel lesson (the same lesson
heard by the adults).
Parents are always welcome to
participate along with their child(ren)! |
